Finally back to my blog after an uber-long hiatus because of life happening as it so often does.  Anyways, thought I'd ease back into the waters with another installment of "What I'm listening to, right now".  Without further ado,

1.  Back from Cali (featuring Myles Kennedy) - Slash  I gotta admit I'm not a Gun-n-Roses fan per se, but I do know a good rock song when I hear it and this my friends is such a beast.  If you dig, Alter Bridge, this is, in my opionion, Myles Kennedy at his best.  And, of course, you have Slash laying it down as well.
2. A Certain Shade of Green - Incubus  Usually I'm talking about new or semi-new songs here, however I thought this song was new until I did some research and realized this song is from Incubus' more hard rocking days on their album S.C.I.E.N.C.E.  Very cool, if you like hard rock and Incubus, you'll dig this.
3. Lose My Life - Papercut Massacre  Another good hard rock song.
4. Love the Way You Lie (featuring Rihanna) - Eminem  I've always been an Eminem fan but he most recent releases were not up to par, however with the new album I think he's back on track.  I usually care nothing for the rap plus pop singer pairing up but this is pretty good.  It has good dichotomy, take a listen and I'm sure you'll agree.
5. September - Daughtry  I dig Daughtry, if you do too, you'll like the song.
6.  Your Love Is a Song - Switchfoot  I'm a long time fan of Switchfoot and this is a great song from them.  I really dig the guitar throughout the song.  Very mellow song.
7.  If I Die Young - The Band Perry  Okay, if you've been following the list this week, I've been going from most hard rock to least and I end up with a country song.  I know country supposedly sucks and all that, but this is a great song and the lead singer sings it beautifully.

Well I'm back for another installment of "What I'm listening to, right now" and its been awhile since I've posted, just because it seems there's not much out there that I really felt was listen-worthy.  Because of that, I've been going through my collection of CD's and digitizing them and found some songs I thought everyone might appreciate and there are a couple of new songs I'd like to share with.  We'll start with the new songs and proceed to the older ones...

  1. Fire It Up, Thousand Foot Krutch  This is just an awesome rock song.  The first fifteen seconds of the song builds up and finally the guitar kicks in and rocks it out for the remainder of the song.  After all, you would expect a song entitled "Fire It Up" to actually get you fired up.
  2. Still Counting, Volbeat Volbeat is a Danish band formerly into the death metal scene and it does show in this song at places.  I'm not even sure how to describe this song or why I even dig it.  Give it a listen and feel free to make fun of me for liking a Danish band.
  3. 'Til Summer Comes Around, Keith Urban  Okay, I truly dislike Keith Urban.  I think all his songs sound the same nevermind the fact that they aren't that good.  However, most of his ballad-y or slowish type songs tend to be very good and this is one of them.  So if you wanna get bummed out, take a listen.
  4. Hillbilly Bone, Blake Shelton  A little history with this song, I would see it come on my Sirius Satellite radio and the name alone made me turn the station.  I deduced in my mind it was going to be some awful song and it may still be, but it is catchy, especially the chorus.  I dare you to listen to the song and not sing along with the chorus. You may be able to resist, but I like to sing in the truck so its tough for me.
  5. You Haven't Left Me Yet, George Strait  This is probably one of my all time favorite George Strait songs.  Its kind of a sad song but something about it I really like.  I suppose its probably the phrasing of the song, is very clever and its just a good country song.
  6. La La, Ashlee Simpson  I know, I know.  I should get my man-card revoked for even listening to this song, nevermind admitting I listen to it on my blog and further recommending it.  I'd suggest you at least give it a listen before petition the man-council to have my membership permanently revoked, its a good Pop Rox song. (Sorry, couldn't find it to add to the Amazon widget.)
  7. Alive, P.O.D.  This song rocks.  End of discussion.  I'd have to say this was one of my favorite songs from my senior year of college.  It also had an amazing video.

There's the list, hopefully the music industry will inspire me more frequently in the weeks to come.

This is the third installment of "What I'm listening to, right now" and I'm having better luck updating that previous attempts at blogging.  However, does it ever seem the music industry has lulls in awesome music?  It seems that way to me and ask Socrates said "Perception is reality".  Well maybe it wasn't Socrates, but someone smart probably said that.

1)  Come On - Green River Ordinance
I think this group falls into the Pop Rox category, which is my term for rock music with a very pop feel.  It has a very catchy chorus and I think its cool thier name has been mentioned in an Andy Griffith episode.  Points to anyone who knows which one..
2) Hallelujah - Kate Voegele
Yeah, well I like it.  So there.  The song has been done to death, but I like her version.
3) Meet Me Halfway - Black Eyed Peas
I haven't much liked anything BEP has released as of late, but this song features a lot of Fergie which is probably why I like it.
4)  All The Right Moves - OneRepublic
I have always liked OneRepublic, but it seems with their new album they have taken a turn for the worse.  Don't get me wrong its a good song, but no where the caliber of their other songs and definitely not in the same vein.
5)  Back Again - Parachute
I gotta admit, I discovered this song while playing Band Hero.  I admit I like the Guitar Hero games.  I mean its either that or air guitar, so I stick with Guitar Hero.  I believe this song also falls into the Pop Rox category.

Anyways, that was a very lack luster list in my opinion but maybe you'll enjoy more than I do.  Oh, something new I'm trying is an Amazon widget (seen below) that the songs I've talked about here.  And yes, I will get a kickback if you happen to buy them, but I'm mainly looking for an easy to to share the songs on my site.  We'll give it a go and see how it shakes out.

As promised, this is the second entry of "What I'm listening to, right now".  And away we go....
  1. Second Chance - Shinedown.  The Shinedown boys do it again with a great rock song.  If you like Shinedown, you'll like the song.  Period. End of discussion.
  2. Someday - Rob Thomas  I didn't enjoy his first album as much, but his second sounds better to me.  Haven't decided if it is better, but I do like the first two songs at least.  This is song reminds me of "Her Diamonds" only better.
  3. Break - Three Days Grace  I'm not a huge Three Days Grace fan, but this song rocks your socks off.  Literally.  You will be air-guitaring like a fool and your anger meter will go up a notch. Awesome video as well.
  4. The Truth - Jason Aldean  Another good ballad from Jason Aldean.  Yes, its a sad song.  Yes, I'm a sucker.  Yes, I love it.  Its a good sing along song.  The lyrics are good on this, very clever.
  5. Why Don't We Just Dance - Josh Turner  I wasn't sure what to make of this song at first, but I kind of dig it now.  Its real catchy and I always like his songs.  Plus the video is pretty funny.  Feel free to make snide comments.... now.

I plan on doing this every so often, but best laid plans and all of that.  Regardless, here is a short list of what I'm listening to, some of its what you would expect from a 20 something guy and other things... um... well not so much.  Without further ado....

1) Creed - Greatest Hits
Is it wrong that I love Creed's greatest hits? Probably.  However, if you don't like "My Own Prison" there is something wrong in your brain.
2) Flobots - Handlebars
Have no clue who these guys are.  Heard them on the Faction station on Sirius and started feeling it.  Plus anybody who mentions Leif Erikson in their song deserves to be on this list.  Not sure how to describe their sound, rapping white guys with some rock-ish type music.
3)  Michelle Branch - Sooner or Later
Yeah, well shutup.  She makes catchy music.
4)  Kenny Chesney - I'm Alive featuring Dave Matthews
A good country song with Dave Matthews.  Not that care for Chenny Kesney (and yes, I did that on purpose) or Dave Matthews for that matter, but its good.
5)  Hurt - Pills
Eh, these guys are okay.  This song has a nice acoustic thing going on that I like.
6)Fall Out Boy - What a Catch, Donnie
I've always liked Fall Out Boy and this is a ballad-y type song.  Again I likes it.
7)  Cavo - Let It Go
Good song, reminds me of Nickelback or 3 Doors Down.  Very different from their other song I know about "Champagne".

I guess thats enough.  You've probably already busted an artery laughing.  Go take a listen to some of these if you get bored.
